On Tuesday 28 May, the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) hosted a seminar on the new Basque peace process and recent developments in the Basque country, marking the launch of a new PRIO project on Imagined Sovereignties: Frontiers of Statehood and Globalization. The project aims to shed new light on conflicts over political representation, citizenship rights, and territoriality in a globalizing world through an investigation and comparison of three empirical cases (Cyprus, Northeast India and the Basque Country).

Speakers at the seminar were Professor Pedro Ibarra Güell from the University of the Basque Country, Gorka Elejabarrieta from the radical left-wing Basque political party Sortu, and Paul Rios from the civil society organization Lokarri.
